Jetpack 2.3.5: Share Your Path Moments with Publicize

Jetpack 2.3.5 is out and contains an update to our Publicize feature! Our Publicize feature is a quick, simple way to build your readership and share your latest content automatically on other social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and LinkedIn.

Working with our good friends at Path, we’re excited to announce that you can now connect your WordPress blog and Path account. Once connected, when you create new content on your site, a Path “moment” will also be created, with a link back to your site.

Read the Path announcement on WordPress.com to find out more.

Jetpack 2.3: Omnisearch, Social Links, and DIY Debugging

Version 2.3 of Jetpack has launched! New features like Omnisearch, Social Links, the Debugger, and more give you powerful, simple ways to customize and administer your Jetpack-powered site.

Ominsearch

Omnisearch

Omnisearch: one search box, global results. Don’t waste time digging for that one comment with the useful link — or was it a post you saw it in? Search once and get results from all of your posts, pages, comments, and plugins.

It’s also incredibly simple to let other plugins offer search results for when a user does a search. Do you have a plugin to build forms? Let Omnisearch provide your users with relevant points of contact from their visitors. Shopping cart plugin? Use it to find individual orders or products. Omnisearch is easy to extend via WordPress’s native Filters API to create a comprehensive search experience within your Dashboard.

Social Links

Social Links

Are you using a theme that supports Social Links? Now, you can configure your social icons directly from the Customizer (just make sure you’ve connected your social services using Publicize first).

Debugger

Debug Module

Debugging your Jetpack connection has never been easier. Activate the Jetpack Debugger, find out why Jetpack isn’t working for you, and submit a help request directly from your Dashboard. Our support folks can see the test details, helping them hone in on the issue more efficiently.

Other Enhancements

In addition to these features, you can now customize the “submit” button text on contact forms, as well as captions used by slideshows

(We’ve also spent a lot of time fixing bugs. For a complete list of changes, take a look at the changelog.)

If you’re already running Jetpack, head to your dashboard to update to 2.3. Otherwise, download Jetpack today!

Jetpack 2.2.5

Dear Jetpack Community,

Today we released Jetpack 2.2.5. This is a minor release with a few small bug fixes:

  • Stats enhancement: counting of registered users’ views can now be enabled for specific roles
  • Security tightening for metadata support in the REST API
  • Minor update to the Twitter Timeline widget for future compatibility
  • Custom CSS: prevent a possible PHP warning, and allow the content width setting to be larger than the theme’s content width

You should update immediately via the one-click update prompt in your dashboard.

You can read the full changelog here. As always, please get in touch with us if you run into an issue. We’d be very happy to help!

Jetpack 2.2: Likes

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about the web, it’s that people really like to like things. That’s why the latest version of Jetpack introduces a “Like” feature. The new feature enables a “Like” area at the bottom of your posts and pages. A button allows your readers to show appreciation for your posts as well as save your posts for later viewing on WordPress.com using the Reader.

Once a user likes your post, their Gravatar will be displayed below your content, allowing you to engage with them further. You’ll also receive a notification in your toolbar if you have the notifications module enabled, and an email notifying you of the action.

Likes isn’t the only new feature in this release. We’ve also added a Readmill widget, a bulk spam feature to the contact form, improved our Pinterest share button integration, and a slew of bug fixes.

For a complete list of changes, see the changelog.

Jetpack 2.1.2

Dear Jetpack Community,

Today we released Jetpack 2.1.2. This is mainly a bug fix release to get some outstanding issues squashed. We have resolved 34 bugs and added 2 enhancements, by my count. That’s pretty impressive, for a point release!

The highlights for this release are:

- the new TED shortcode. You can now copy and paste the shortcode offered on http://ted.com/talks and embed it directly in your WordPress+Jetpack-powered post or page.

- filters for Infinite Scroll. These filters allow themes and plugins to provide additional assets that should be loaded before a new set of posts is appended to the DOM.

You can read the full changelog here. Get in touch with us via our support form if you need any assistance.

Jetpack 2.1: Tiled Galleries

Posting photo galleries on your WordPress blog is a fun way to share your experiences with the world, but do plain old thumbnail grids truly express your artistic side? No, they don’t. That’s why we’ve added tiled galleries to Jetpack.

Tiled galleries allow you to create beautiful photo mosaics for your blog posts. Just activate the Tiled Gallery module (and optionally set the tiled layout as the default) to create gorgeous galleries in seconds. Your friends will envy you, and your enemies will fear you.

You might be thinking, “Are tiled galleries the only new feature in Jetpack 2.1? If they are, that’s certainly understandable, because it’s an amazing addition to an already feature-rich plugin.” No, tiled galleries are not the only new feature; we’ve also added a slideshow mode for galleries. Just choose Slideshow from the Type dropdown when creating your gallery, and you’ll instantly have a dynamic photo display. Slideshows and tiled galleries both look amazing on mobile devices, and they both integrate seamlessly with the Carousel module.

In addition to giving you new ways to show off your photographs, we’ve spent a lot of time fixing bugs, too.  Photon, Infinite Scroll, Publicize, Sharing, and the Contact Form modules have all been given some TLC, and the Custom CSS editor has been updated. For a complete list of changes, see the changelog.

Update: Jetpack 2.1.1 has been released to fix a bug that was preventing updates from Jetpack 1.9.2 and older.

Jetpack 2.0.4 Released

Earlier today, we released Jetpack 2.0.3. Within an hour, we received reports that Jetpack couldn’t be activated after upgrading. We found a conflict between WordPress and Jetpack, which we’ve fixed in Jetpack 2.0.4. This latest update is available now in your WordPress dashboard or here at jetpack.me.

Jetpack 2.0.3 Released

This release continues to refine Jetpack’s handling of images in Photon (our image accelerator) and enhances theme and plugin compatibility with Infinite Scroll.

Jetpack’s Custom CSS Editor also gets a major overhaul for this release. The editing experience is now more streamlined and supports Sass and LESS as alternatives to traditional CSS. Write your site’s styles in your preferred language, and Jetpack handles the rest.

Those are the highlights, but this release also fixes many other issues you reported. For a complete list of changes, see the official Jetpack Changelog.

The update will be available in your WordPress dashboard shortly. Alternatively, you can always download the latest version of Jetpack here at jetpack.me.

Remember these fixes are made possible by bug reports submitted by you (thanks!), so please contact support or post in the support forum if you need help.
